How does the line of succession in royalty work, does the child have to be born? If the Queen had already died and Charles was King, and he had got Diana pregnant but then died during her pregnancy, who would succeed, Charles's unborn heir, or the nearest alive male relative, i.e. Prince Andrew? And if Andrew did become King, what would the position be of Diana's and Charles's son when born?

Assuming the unborn child was the first, it would succeed whether male or female. If it was a later addition after Harry and William, it would rank after them before Andrew. As to regency, I would say 18 rather than 21 as the age that's important. The age of majority in the UK is 18 for all matters except some relating to driving heavy vehicles (which isn't really part of the qualifications of being a monarch) and such like. Now, if Camilla became pregnant, her child would rank after Harry and William. Unlikely, but possible.

I saw 21 out there somewhere, but I will defer to the Brits on this.
