    		Not quite. As your second link shows, Bobby and the Midnights were formed by Bob Weir in June 1980. However, Mydland joined the Grateful Dead in 1979:

    The NY Times obituary has the right answer: The Bob Weir Band, which was the band that Weir formed to tour behind his 1978 album 'Heaven Help the Fool'. For example, see this description of the February 23, 1978 concert of the Bob Weir Band in St. Paul, MN, which lists Mydland as a member:
