Who stirred raging emotions by saying Nazi SS troops were victims “just as surely as the victims of concentration camps”?

    Question #88524. Asked by moonshadowo1. (Nov 14 07 4:15 PM)

    Ronald Reagan

In defense of his visit, Reagan said, "There's nothing wrong with visiting that cemetery where those young men are victims of Nazis also...They were victims, just as surely as the victims of the concentration camps."

He certainly never said it this way. When he visited Germany he visited a soldier cemetary near Bitburg where, like on all of them, a handfull of SS people lied, his enemies tried to turn it into an "honoring of Nazis", which is quite ridiculous.
