    The UN in 2002 listed 14 countries existing as colonies
    Western Sahara ? Spain but in distpute as to whether independent or not

    The British dependencies are not called colonies or crown colonies anymore. I suspect that none of the other dependencies are called so officially either.

    The official status of New Caledonia is a 'sui generis collectivity', not a colony.
