What indirect link is there between one of the royal tombs in Westminster Abbey and the nose of Michelangelo?

    Question #89386. Asked by Flem-ish. (Dec 04 07 1:40 PM)

The tomb of Henry VII, located in Westminster Abbey, was designed by Torrigiano -- who gave Michelangelo a bloody nose when they were studying art together.

Wondering if that was why he came to England.

According to his Wikipedia bio, he continued to receive prestigious work in Italy after the scuffle (notably helping to decorate the papal apartments). Then he found work as a mercenary (they are unclear as to why), after which he was hired by the English. Apparently he had a reputation for unpleasantness and had some trouble getting Italian artists to follow him to England. It seems to me as though punching Michelangelo wasn't the immediate cause of his leaving Italy, but it reflected problems with his temper that may have led to his eventual departure.
