    That would be the Swamp Thing or The Creature from the Black Lagoon.

    The Swamp Thing was a hippy at heart -- Ken Kesey, author of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, founded a group called the Merry Pranksters and a band called The Warlocks which later became the Grateful Dead. "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was also the title of Swamp Thing #66.

    The Merry Pranksters sometimes lived communally at Kesey's homes in California and Oregon. One noteable member: Carolyn Adams but best known as Mrs. Jerry Garcia.

    I didn't have time to check out the accuracy of all of that history -- namely the Warlocks becoming the dead -- but, here you do have the connection.
