    How many Islamic Republics are there today?

    		There are currently 4 Islamic republics, Afghanistan and the Islamic Republics of Iran, Pakistan, and Mauritania.

    		This German site also mentions the Comoros as an 'islamic federal state'.

    This French site, though, claims that the Islamic Federal Republic of the Comoros lasted from 1975 to 2000, and was replaced by the Union of the Comoros in 2000.

    		Saudi Arabia has a Royal Family, so like the United Kingdom, is not a republic -
