The Lawyers were the first to be paid out.

excerpt from the article link below: "This first phase of compensation is the result of more than a decade of work by Aboriginal Leaders and firms led by Merchant Law Group fighting for compensation for Residential School Survivors. Our firm is very proud to have reached this Settlement with then Prime Minister Paul Martin in November, 2005, which provides $1.9 Billion in compensation for Common Experience Payments, and we estimate an extra $3 Billion in additional compensation to survivors who suffered sexual and serious physical abuse (which will be paid out by the government based on individual assessments over the next several years.

What Leeds born 'Star Trek' actor started his film career as a school rebel in a film with a Kipling title, but with very un-Kipling-like scenes such as the machine-gunning of the school staff on Speech Day, and all this in the very symbolic year of the Paris student revolution 1968?

Can anyone explain how the periodic table works? How is it possible that the vertical groups correspond almost exactly to the increasing atomic mass of the elements? For instance, the alkali metals (group 1), alkaline earth metals (group 2) and noble gases (group 8) all have very different properties, yet somehow, if they were all arranged in order by their atomic masses, you would find that they could be arranged in a clear pattern of Group 1, Group 2, Group 8, Group 1, Group 2, Group 8, and so on. Is it just coincidence, or is there a scientific explanation for this?
