A wonder who was famously born on the night that another wonder was destroyed reputedly sent, as a rebuke, tons of something largely associated with its ancient use as a gift. Who and what am I referrng to?

Alexander the Great was born on July 21, 356 BCE, the same night the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus was destroyed by a megalomanic arsonist.
His tutor, Leonidas (not the Spartan hero), once chided him for using too much incense in an offering to the gods, noting that when he had conquered the spice-bearing regions he could afford to be so generous. Years later when this came to pass, Alexander sent the old man eighteen tons of frankincense and myrrh.

Yay, Qp! And as a mutual friend pointed out to me, such a generous rebuke would have made the old guy rich.
