In 1999, scientists found a 5 kilometer wide asteroid caught in Earth's gravitational grip. How long does it take this satelline, Cruithne as it is called, to complete a horseshoe-shaped orbit around Earth?

It takes slightly less than one year to complete an orbit. Cruithne's orbit is not circular, it has a "kidney bean" shape to it.

That kidney bean shape is not its actual orbit, which is elliptical round the sun, but its apparent path relative to the earth.

According to Stephen Fry and Wikipedia it is, at this time, loosely considered Earths "Second Moon".
