    		Which Confederate flag?

    Marschall designed the original "Stars and Bars," which quickly fell out of favor. It appeared with seven to eighteen stars, with the stars in various arrangements. There were two more official Confederate flags before the end of the Civil War, and any number of battle flags.

    The flag I saw often in the South forty years ago was apparently of 20th century design.
