    The total number of pool balls in a game of 8 ball minus the total number of pool balls in a game of 9 ball equals how many pool balls?

    		8 Ball -- cue ball and fifteen object balls
    9 Ball -- cue ball and nine object balls

    W/ cue balls: 16 - 10 = 6
    W/o cue balls: 15 - 9 = 6

    in eight ball there are 15 coloured balls (stripes and solids, low and high) and 1 cue ball.

    in nine ball there are 9 balls and 1 cue ball. never heard of 8 ball minus (1) sounds like a local thing.

    if you are just doing math, it would 15 - 9 (if only using coloured balls) which would be 6. if using the cue 16 - 10 still resulting in 6.
