The largest snowman in Canada can be found in Beardmore, Ontario near the shores of Lake Nipigon. What is the structure made of so it doesn't melt in the summer heat?

    Question #90178. Asked by pmac41. (Dec 22 07 6:29 AM)

The snowman was built with removable seasonal accessories - in the summer it has sunglasses and a fishing pole; in the winter, it has a curling broom and a winter scarf.

The original was built by the Royal Canadian Legion and the Township of Beardmore. It was replaced in Fall of 1998 (not structurally sound anymore - due to fire?). It was made out of painted plywood, metal beams and acrylic epoxy paint. In reality it was a chip and ice cream stand. It stood 30 Feet (9.1 Metres) tall and was 20.6 Feet (6.3 Metres) in Diameter. http://www.bigthings.ca/ontario/beardmore.html

What is the largest man-made structure in the world?

Constructed for the benefit of outcasts and possibly the oldest structure in its general location, this building became the excuse for a regular late summer/early autumn event that was the largest of its kind for several centuries. One year at that event, a certain student-scientist purchased a signficant book and, possibly, a couple of items made of glass. What is the building, and what was that event; who was the scientist, and what did he buy?
