The same reference says: "Luke tells us that Elizabeth was six months pregnant when the angel Gabriel visited Mary. The beginning of Elizabeth's sixth month would have been the celebration of the Jewish feast of Hanukkah, which occurs in December of our modern calendar."
By my reckoning, this means that the birth would have been about three or four months after Hanukkah, in April. Which agrees with the range suggested by the 'shepherds in the fields' clue, namely was April to October.

In Jewish and Christian tradition, often the birth dates of famous people in the religion is the same as the anniversary of their death. This tradition applies to Moses (7th of Adar, Gregorian late February or early March), David (the feast of Weeks - Shavuot - late may or early June), and logically Jesus (Passover, late March/early April).
