What is the highest a pure kicker (not routinely doubling as any other position) has been drafted in the NFL Draft? Name, round and pick number please, as well as the team that drafted them?

The cited article supports clipperraider's post, but it's not correct, because there was an NFL draft prior to the AFL merger in late 1966.
The correct answer is Charlie Gogolak, a pure soccer-style kicker picked with the 6th overall pick by the Washington Redskins in 1966.

Gogolak's brother Pete was already an AFL/NFL star, as well as pro football's first soccer-style kicker.
