Grammar school is another name for Elementary Schools here in the States housing grades K-6 or K-8 depending on the district. K=Kindergarten.

K-4 as well can be Grammar, Primary or Elementary. 5-8 can be "Middle" or "Intermediate" school. Then 9-12 "High" School

These are schools that are free but are selective. You must take an entrance exam to be admitted. So no equivalent exists in the US?
