    		Six years after the men's nationals were held, the first official U.S. Women's National Singles Championship was held at the Philadelphia Cricket Club.

    The Philadelphia Cricket Club is the oldest cricket club in the US city of Philadelphia, and one of the oldest country clubs in the nation. It was founded in 1854 by a group of English expatriates while studying in the University of Pennsylvania.
