    		The Roman Emperor Constantine deliberately made Christian festivals, such as Christmas, to coincide with Roman pagan holidays, such as the birth of the sun god to try to spread Christianity, according to Andrea Carandini, a professor of archaeology at Rome's La Sapienza University.
