A certain Spaniard pianist born on Lérida, with a
great technique and immense repertorie, lived the best part of his life in Paris, befriended all important musucians of his time, did the first auditions of many contemporany works by Ravel, Debussy, Satie, Granados, Albeniz, Villa-Lobos and others. Today, except in Spain, he is totally forgotten. Do you know who he was?

You just beat me to it but I'll add that his full name was "Ricardo Javier Viñes y García Roda".

He was gay, and in Spain in the 40's that was a crime. Maybe that explains his family trying to destroy everything he left and forget that he once existed.
