    I once read that there aren't actually 57 varieties of Heinz - there are more. How many varieties are there?

    		Known as Heinz57, the figure has nothing to do with how many varieties they produce. Their own site says they now produce around 5,700 varieties. I guess it changes almost daily as they add or remove varieties.

    		It sounded good when Mr Heinz was starting up. Apparently the figures 5 and 7 had some individual significance, and were used even though they actually had more than 60 varieties at the time. (The shoe business advertising 21 varieties of shoe that gave the idea doesn't seem to have survived.
