Leafs coach Richard Peddie may have his job on the line but he won't know anytime soon. General Manager John Ferguson hasn't been given permission from the board to hand the coach his walking papers. What action could Ferguson be facing?

I think you better get your questions right before you ask them..Peddie is not a coach with the leafs..& Ferguson has already been fired.

Paul Maurice is the head coach involved. It should be his name in the question, rather than Richard Peddie. In answer to the question, Ferguson faced dismissal, and was fired on Tuesday, January 22, 2008.

After six months of speculation, the team had replaced general manager John Ferguson with interim GM Cliff Fletcher. And while Maurice's job was also believed to be in jeopardy, the coach was told that he would remain behind Toronto's bench for at least the duration of the season.
"It's a very, very difficult day both professionally and personally," said Maurice, who was hired by Ferguson in 2005 to coach Toronto's American Hockey League affiliate. He was promoted to replace former Leafs coach Pat Quinn a year later.
