In the Beatles song 'Let It Be,” what was Paul McCartney's mother's name?

Question #91596. Asked by coolygirl. (Jan 26 08 1:26 PM)

    BRY2K

Paul's mother's name in the song (and in real life) was Mary.

Well, that's nice to know--all these years I'd thought it was a drug-induced quasi-religious statement referring to the Virgin Mary.

Apparently..."McCartney had a dream one night when he was paranoid and anxious. He saw his mom who had been dead for ten years or so; she came to him in his time of trouble, speaking words of wisdom. This brought him much peace when he needed it. It was this sweet dream that got him to begin writing the song."

Not to run this one into the ground, but I should have provided a link showing I wasn't alone in thinking the song had Roman Catholic overtones.
