Purcy posts:
Nigel Pivaro served time for burglary in 1981, 12 months approx before appearing in Coronation Street. He served time with a guy called Graham Davies who I happen to live with.

We really have no way of answering your question without having a copy of prison records. Unless, of course, the fellow inmate(s) was famous -- And it appears that was not the case. Nevertheless:
"The actor that played and has played Terry on and off over the years, Nigel Pivaro, has spent time in Strangeways prison himself, just like RTerreh."

HM Prison Manchester is a British prison, also known (now unofficially, since it was renamed in the 1990s) as Strangeways Prison.
