Nope, sorry. It's also nothing to do with skaters, cubes, ice cream, dancers, somewhat dubious sounding moulds for ice, or ice rats (which I'd never heard of till I checked out the Googleability of this). It is Googleable.
There are scientific studies ongoing connected with this, which could have led to a new field of endeavour called cryoculture if the name wasn't already in use for something totally unrelated.

A good try, but too high tech... The distinction I'm looking for is made at a very low tech level. Shovels rather than spatulas.....

No drugs involved. The process involving the two classes of ice is alleged to be beneficial to the communities undertaking it. The scientific study is to find out if it really does work, and if it does, to replicate it in other regions. Wouldn't work in the Sahara or most of Australia, but could be very useful in parts of South America.
One of the advantages of going Gold is that one can dig up questions that everyone else had forgotten about... If anyone's got a minute to spare, and makes careful use of minuses, this really is Googleable. A degree of care should lead someone to a site discussing this topic. Possibly some mints might help.

Yay! (with icicles...)
A certain mix of the rough and earthy male ice with the much purer female ice is used to create mini-glaciers for storing water - or so they say. The process is under investigation, opinions at present varying from 'could be very useful' to 'load of pseudo-religious claptrap'. (Quotes for illustration only.)
