Who designed the ancient Sphinx?

In terms of who actually designed it, no chance of knowing. Back then, the bod who ordered it was regarded as way more important than the ones who carried out the real work. (A rare exception being Imhotep...) In fact, Imhotep lived in the same period as the Sphynx's creation (in the sense we live in the same period of time as George Washington), but the Sphynx should not be attributed to him merely because he's the only name we can point to.
