An unjustly neglected German composer, pianist and teacher (1817-1993), Mendelssohn's pupil, friend of Schumann, who praised his works. He wrote two symphonies, two violin concertos and many very fine chamber instrumental works, in the best tradition of 19th century and IMO is as good as any. In particular, his string quartets, quintets and sextets are some of the best romantic chamber. Do you know him?

Czech composer and professor (1870-949). He had works of almost every genre, and passed by several influences and styles, ending as a neo-romantic and patriotic bohemian. He's considered one of the main post-Dvorak Czech composers. His chamber works are specially fine. Who was he?

Who was the romantic Russian composer (1850-1918) virtually unknown in the west, who wrote three symphonies, three string quartets and several chamber works along with songs and orchestral pieces, fulfilled several bureaucratic posts and was a friend of "The Five"?
