    Violinist born in what is today Poland (1902-1982), Hubay's pupil. He traveled in Europe and recorded thousands of popular pieces, including tangos, with his orchestra. But he also played serious music in string quartets, piano quartets and quintets. After World War II he established in the Netherlands for the rest of his life. He was a splendid violinist, warm and expressive. His Kreisler's recordings are anthological. He used an artistic name. Do you know him?

    Paul Godwin was actually named Pinchas Goldfein. He was born in Sosnowiec, Poland, on March 28, 1902, and passed away on December 9, 1982, in Driebergen, The Netherlands. He studied with Stanislaw Barcewicz (1858-1929) in Warsaw. Later on he went to Vienna to study with H. Kaplan but he had to flee because of the changing political and social climate. From there he went to Budapest and studied with Jenö Hubay (1858 - 1937).
