Clara Bow, the legendary silent film actress, was born in a tenement in Brooklyn, New York. What was the address?

    Question #92709. Asked by Longstreet2008. (Feb 22 08 10:35 PM)

Baloo doesn't have time to dig too deeply on this, but you could look in http://www.censusfinder.com/new-york-census-records4.htm which was found by Googling brooklyn directory 1910 . A census list is probably your best bet. The biog articles mostly recapitulate the same info as found in in Wikipedia. On the other hand, you may know. If so, anyone else have a go...?

Wow! for the research, but on Page 8 Clara's mother had moved temporarily into her brother's appartment at 697 Bergen St from Sands St when her husband left her, and the baby appears to have been born there. (The Amazon provided text cuts off just before the actual birth....) By the way, the description of the area makes Dickensian London look almost idyllic.... All credit for the answer to Kathy, anyway. She found the source I couldn't.
