OY VAY...it's ELLY NEY!
During the Third Reich she participated in "cultural education" camps, and became an honorary member of the League of German Girls. She joined the Nazi Party in 1937, and Adolf Hitler conferred on her the title of professor as a 55th birthday present. In 1939 she took charge of the piano classes in the projected new Hochchule of the Salzburg Mozarteum.
Her letters and public speeches show her as a devoted Nazi and vicious anti-Semite. A temporary stage ban was imposed after the war, and her fame never recuperated.
