    Here are some things needed for photosynthesis to occur:

    Light

    chlorophyll
    carbon dioxide (from the air)
    water (from the soil)
    sunlight energy (any light will do except green light)

    The biological machinery of the plant cell works to absorb light energy (using chorophyll to absorb the light) and use that energy to perform a series of biochemical reactions. The end products of these reactions are Glucose (a simple sugar) and Oxygen (which the plants release into the air via transpiration).
