    Are all trapezia kites?

Question #93382. Asked by Rachel xx. (Mar 10 08 11:06 AM)

I would say no, based on the following descriptors:

A trapezoid has ONE pair of opposite sides parallel.

It is called a regular trapezoid if the sides that aren't parallel are equal in length and both angles coming from a parallel side are equal.

A "kite" has two pairs of sides. Each pair is made up of adjacent sides that are equal in length. The angles are equal where the pairs meet.

    Does this help?

No. A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with one (and only one) pair of parallel sides. A kite is a quadrilateral with 2 pairs of sides with equal length, diagonals meet at a right angle, and other criteria which all trapezoids do not meet.
