The same surname as André the pianist, but this one was a modern Russian composer (1925-1996), not too complicated, original in style with the inevitable influence of DS. He left many fine works of every genre. Almost unknown in the West. Do you know who he was?

Prolific British composer, pianist and conductor (1878-1958), he tried every genre. In particular his symphonic and chamber works are many and worthwile, but not well known outside England. He had a tendency to large scale works, difficult to put on stage. Do you know him?

An unjustly neglected German composer, pianist and teacher (1817-1993), Mendelssohn's pupil, friend of Schumann, who praised his works. He wrote two symphonies, two violin concertos and many very fine chamber instrumental works, in the best tradition of 19th century and IMO is as good as any. In particular, his string quartets, quintets and sextets are some of the best romantic chamber. Do you know him?
