    James L. Creighton Was the world's leading authority on the discography of the classical violin. Author of Discopaedia of the Violin and former director & producer of the classical label Masters of the Bow. He was also the Archivist of the Faculty of Music/University of Toronto for 30 years.

His recordings of Paganini's violin and/or viola works are anthological. He played the viola half of his life, but turned to the violin in the 80s.     The first complete recording of Paganini's caprices on solo violin as written were Ruggero Ricci's in 1947. But the first real version, an absurd arrangement for violin with piano, of the 24 were previous. Who made it and when?
