This could be a trick question... Martin Van Buren, b. Dec. 5, 1782, was the first born after the Declaration of Independence. Zachary Taylor, b. Nov. 24, 1784, was the first born after Congress ratified the Treaty of Paris. John Tyler, b. Mar. 29, 1790, was the first born after the Constitution went into effect on Mar. 4, 1789. According to the Constitution, only a natural born citizen, or citizen of the U.S. at the time of adoption of the Constitution is eligible to become President. Therefore, we think the correct answer is John Tyler.
