What strongholds does the Scottish Presbyterian Church have in the Third World?

Question #94247. Asked by author. (Apr 02 08 10:34 AM)

The Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland (or the Wee Wee Frees), not to be confused with the Free Church of Scotland (a much larger Presbyterian denomination), is based largely in the Highlands.

It has a considerable presence in Africa, namely Zimbabwe (where the Free Presbyterian Church built the Mbuma Mission Hospital) and also in Kenya.

The Free Church of Scotland (the Wee Frees) does extensive missionary work in Peru, India, South Africa and Colombia. However, the missions situated in these countries are all autonomous. This is in contrast to the missions held in Africa by the The Free Presbyterian Church of Scotland.

Maybe you have to add present Malawi, previously called Nyasaland.

The first significant Western contact was the arrival of David Livingstone along the north shore of Lake Malawi in 1859, and subsequently Scottish Presbyterian churches establishing missions.
