    Which is generally more expensive to make, a traditional animated film like 'The Lion King' or a computer generated film like 'Toy Story'?

    		Here is one thought,

    "The Simpsons Movie" cost $75 million to make.

    Why is a cartoon, albeit an 87-minute-long cartoon, so expensive?

    "Seventy-five million is a fair statement. It's cheaper than most cartoons. 'Ratatouille' probably most over $100 million. Every other (animated) film (last year) was probably more expensive. 'Shrek' was definitely more expensive.

    "Why so expensive? Because of the rendering time in computer animation. That's what costs so much money. It takes a lot of man hours. An animated film is one long special effect. Everybody knows computer generated images are expensive. It's all being created. Everything is being manufactured, with the exception of the writing.
