Actually, Ed Trice himself was trounced by Grandmaster Susan Polgar, so maybe the best Gothic Chess is a chess champion who hasn't even played it yet.
This is a quote from Ed Trice himself.
"Grandmasters have adjusted brilliantly to the new game with the 80 square board and the two new pieces. In my first game with Susan Polgar, she crushed me (October 2006). You can see this game annotated here:
