Who is the greatest player of the chess variant, Gothic Chess?

Question #94266. Asked by BaronBatty. (Apr 03 08 8:30 AM)

I hope I'm not too picky, but isn't this an opinion question?

The best player is probably the inventor of the game, Ed Trice.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Trice

He also created what is arguably the best Gothic software, Gothic Vortex, winner of the 2007 Gothic Chess Computer World Championship.

The only person (?) to have beaten Gothic Vortex twice is someone called M_TAL.

M_TAL is perhaps a guy called George Tsavdaris, who claims to have beaten Gothic Vortex twice, which would probably make him the best human player besides Ed Trice.

Actually, Ed Trice himself was trounced by Grandmaster Susan Polgar, so maybe the best Gothic Chess is a chess champion who hasn't even played it yet.

This is a quote from Ed Trice himself.

"Grandmasters have adjusted brilliantly to the new game with the 80 square board and the two new pieces. In my first game with Susan Polgar, she crushed me (October 2006). You can see this game annotated here:

... that is, if you go quickly. Some stooge of a Wikipedian keeps hacking the page, taking down the game.

You can see I had a huge lead in development if you look at this image:

Susan only had her Queen out whereas I had 4 pieces in play and was attacking. She turned it around with amazing brevity."
