    How many unsuccessful nominations did Richard Nixon make for the Supreme Court of the United States?

    		He was unsuccessful twice, when Abe Fortas resigned, Nixon nominated Clement Haynsworth, which was rejected by the Senate. He then nominated G. Harrold Carswell, who was also rejected. Both nominees were Southern jurists and were perceived to be segregationists.
