Republic Day in Malta is celebrated on December 13. It marks the date in 1974 when it became a republic within the Commonwealth of Nations.

In Finland, as in Sweden, the celebrate St. Lucia on December 13. She was a Christian martyr who delivered food to Christians during their period of greatest persecutions lighting her way with candles. The eldest daughter in the family wears a head wreath with candles with a white robe and sash. She delivers breakfast roles to all the family members in bed.
