What is the most powerful non-atomic bomb?

Question #96170. Asked by Hiber. (May 29 08 5:01 PM)

    triviapaul

The most powerful confirmed non-nuclear explosive is the American Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb, or MOAB. Naturally, MOAB was changed into "Mother Of All Bombs".
The Russians claim to have detonated a bomb that was four times more destructive than the MOAB, so naturally it was dubbed the FOAB, or Father Of All Bombs.

"Father of All Bombs" is the nickname of a Russian-made air-delivered/land activated thermobaric weapon that is claimed to be four times more powerful than the U.S. military's GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast bomb (MOAB or the "mother of all bombs"), making it the most powerful conventional (non-nuclear) weapon in the world, serving as the non-nuclear equivalent of the Tsar Bomba.[1]"

I found this article on a Russian vacuum bomb, said to be the strongest (in 2007). Reference in German.
