How much extra petrol does a car use when you start it up? If you need to stop for a short while, is it more economical to stop the engine or leave it running for say 5 minutes?

If you intend to stop for more than a minute then it would be more economical to stop the car and re-start the car. The site attached also indicates that some experts believe if the stop is as little as 30 seconds that it might be more economical to stop and restart.
