What country is named for a man who was a French politician during the time of the French Revolution?

Question #96691. Asked by author. (Jun 16 08 7:23 AM)

Seychelles? Named after Jean Moreau de Seychelles. Only problem is that he was controlling general of finances (1754-1756) to Louis XV, which was about 35 years before the French Revolution.

This is real close, because this guy was his father.
The one I was asking for is the son, called Marie-Jean Hérault de Séchelles.
