In Hindu chess, what piece is substituted for the bishop?

    Question #96797. Asked by storky1. (Jun 19 08 8:49 PM)

In Chaturanga, the elephant roughly corresponds to the bishop, although it doesn't move diagonally. I would say that the bishop was later substituted for its predecessor, the war elephant.
