    If you put a gather in the glory hole and cool it on the marver, what are you doing?

    		Glassblowing.

    The "gather" is the lump of molten glass that is placed on the end of the blowpipe.

    The "glory hole" is the furnace used to reheat the glass while working on it.

    The "marver" is the flat block of steel (originally marble) on which the glass is rolled to cool and shape it.
