Tompoes or Tompouce .
Named after Tom Thumb- a traditional hero in English folklore who is no bigger than his father's thumb. Tiny thumb-sized heroes are a common theme in world folklore. The most famous examples are Hans Christian Andersen's Thumbelina and the Brothers Grimm's Thumbling and its sequel Thumbling as Journeyman (or Thumbling's Travels).
These later stories may be an earlier version of Tom Thumb as they contain many similar situations (minus the Arthurian elements).
General Tom Thumb was the stage name of Charles Sherwood Stratton (January 4, 1838 – July 15, 1883), a little person who achieved great fame under circus pioneer P.T. Barnum.
