Where did the Welsh town of Mumbles get its name?

Question #97394. Asked by crazycube. (Jul 10 08 2:00 AM)

The name of the town Mumbles near Swansea is derived from the French word for ‘breasts’ … ‘mamelles’. This originally stemmed from a pair of islets in the area but now encompasses the whole town.
