(response: part one)
Here is the "clue" in question:
Just under the letters 'LE' in the title, there's this unusual and out of place arrangement of yellow flowers. This arrangements looks a lot like a left-handed bass guitar (McCartey's instrument). There are also 3 garden wire strips that look like the strings; but there are only three of them. The number 3 sure does come up quite a lot. Also, have you ever noticed that when this arrangement is seen 90 degrees anti-clockwise it looks like the letter P? P for Paul?
Here is McCartney's reaction to the rumours from a 1974 interview:
Someone from the office rang me up and said, "Look, Paul, you're dead." And I said, "Oh, I don't agree with that." And they said, "Look, what are you going to do about it? It's a big thing breaking in America. You're dead." And so I said leave it, just let them say it. It'll probably be the best publicity we've ever had and I won't have to do a thing except stay alive. So I managed to stay alive through it.

(response: part 2....sorry, I have a lot to say about this!)
A couple of people came up and said, "Can I photograph you to prove you're not dead?" Coincidentally, around that time, I was playing down a lot of the old Beatle image and getting a bit more to what I felt was me, letting me beard grow and not being so hung up on keeping fresh and clean. I looked different, more laid back, and so I had people coming up and saying "You're not him!" And I was beginning to think, "I am, you know, but I know what you mean. I don't look like him, but believe me."
The Beatles all denied that they had perpetrated a hoax and insisted that none of the "clues" about Paul's supposed death had any significance whatsoever. According to Ringo, "It's all a load of crap." When asked if he had intentionally placed any of the clues, John denied it in similar terms, "No. That was bullsh**, the whole thing was made up."
