The Hubble Space Telescope was names for Edwin Powell Hubble, who theorized in 1929 that the more distant a galaxy is from us, the faster it is moving away from us. Basically he came up with evidence that the universe is expanding. And that's why you need the Hubble Space Telescope -- to see further distances.
