St. Augustin is supposed to have said this, and it was later used as an argument for papal infallability.

On May 31, 1938 an incident happened that caused NBC to not be able to obtain first run movies for many years. What was this incident?

What is the origin of the phrase "No answer came the stern reply"? Someone suggested to me that it relates to a nineteenth century painting representing an incident in the English Civil War where a young boy is being asked by an inquisitor, "When did you last see your father?" also the title of the painting, but I can find no corroboration of this. Any help?

The same old gentleman mentioned in my previous question has some fascinating stories. During World War II he was on a destroyer which sunk a German U-Boat in New York harbor within sight of the Statue of Liberty. They even retrieved some bodies after the incident. The whole affair was kept secret because it would have freaked out the general public a bit too much. Is there any information currently available about this incident?
