    Is it true that small dogs such as Schipperkes are more at risk of heart disease than bigger breeds?

    		In general smaller breeds of dogs are more prone to degenerative valve diseases of the heart than larger breeds.

    Because smaller breeds live longer they are also more prone to geriatric ailments such as arthritis. As well, the shallow shaped knees of small dogs makes them more prone to slipped knee caps. It also depends on the breed of dog and that particular breed's genetic weaknesses.
